Andy Alabran has over 20 years of experience as an actor, teacher, and producer in the theater.
He received his M.F.A. in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater and B.A. in Theater from UMass Amherst. He served as Voice and Text coach for San Francisco Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. He was Voice and Speech coach for A.C.T.’s Young Conservatory productions: “Begets: Fall of a High School Ronin”, “Hookman”, and “The Wolves”. He directed A.C.T. Young Conservatory productions of “Electra”, “The Glass Menagerie”, “Discovering Beckett”, and “The Importance of Being Earnest”. He is a teaching artist at 826 Valencia in the Tenderloin Center. He directed a staged reading of “Swimming in the Shallows” with Theatre Rhino. He is a company member with the Shotgun Players where acting credits include: Mother Courage, Threepenny Opera, Woyzeck, A Seagull in the Hamptons, The Miser, Loot, and Truffaldino Says No (world premiere). He also served as Creative Director for Killing My Lobster where he produced such productions as The Shakespeare Bug (world premiere), The Whole Megillah, and KML Plays with Beckett.
